NABD-BC2 at AORTIC 2025: Advancing Cancer Advocacy Across Africa
November 2, 2025 @ 8:00 am - November 5, 2025 @ 5:00 pm
NABD-BC2 Association was proudly represented by its Advocacy Strategy Lead, Ms. Hajar Gdader, at the AORTIC 2025 Conference, held from 2 to 5 November 2025 in Hammamet, Tunisia. The event brought together leading researchers, oncologists, patient advocates, policymakers, and stakeholders from across Africa and beyond to exchange knowledge, present cutting-edge research, and explore strategies to strengthen cancer prevention, treatment, and care on the continent.
The AORTIC Conference featured a diverse range of scientific sessions, oral presentations, and poster exhibitions that highlighted recent advancements and challenges in cancer control across Africa. Among the many impactful presentations, those focused on breast cancer research and advocacy stood out as particularly relevant to NABD-BC2’s mission. The data and innovative approaches presented offer valuable insights that can inform and enhance our ongoing work to promote the meaningful engagement of people with lived experience (PWLE) in Morocco and the wider region.
Ms. Hajar Gdader was selected to participate in the Voices of Impact for Cancer Equity workshop, held under the theme “From Insight to Impact: Strengthening and Aligning Advocacy Action Plans.” The workshop convened passionate patient advocates from across Africa to share experiences, identify common challenges, and co-develop strategies aimed at improving access to care, raising awareness, and ensuring equitable support for PWLE. This initiative aligns closely with NABD-BC2’s ongoing commitment to capacity building and advocacy development.
Beyond the formal sessions, the conference provided an invaluable opportunity to strengthen regional and international partnerships. Meetings were held with various organizations and advocates to explore potential areas of collaboration and discuss ways to amplify patient voices and advance joint advocacy projects.
It was also a wonderful occasion to connect in person with members of the UICC Patient Group Mentoring Programme and other partners.
NABD-BC2 expresses its sincere gratitude to VOICE for sponsoring Ms. Hajar Gdader’s participation in this important gathering and for their dedication to organizing the Voices of Impact initiative.
As a proud member of AORTIC, we remain committed to fostering partnerships, driving advocacy, and contributing to sustainable change in cancer control across the continent.
