NABD-BC2 at the World Cancer Leader’s Summit 2025
November 18, 2025 @ 8:00 am - November 21, 2025 @ 6:30 pm
NABD-BC2 Association is proud to announce that Mrs. Ikram Eseghir, President of the Association, was invited by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to participate as a panelist at the World Cancer Leaders’ Summit 2025, held from 18 to 21 November in Melbourne, Australia.
The Summit brought together more than 400 leaders from across the global health community under the theme “Bridging Divides, Building Futures.” It served as a global platform for dialogue, collaboration, and innovation in cancer control.
Mrs. Eseghir took part in the session “Patients, providers, policy: aligning for people-centred care,” which convened individuals with lived experience, healthcare providers, and policy leaders. The session focused on strengthening people-centred care by ensuring meaningful engagement of patients in health systems and policy development. Discussions highlighted existing gaps and challenges, while outlining practical, actionable pathways to build more responsive, inclusive, and effective health systems.
Throughout the Summit, Mrs. Eseghir participated in a rich and thought-provoking programme addressing global priorities in cancer equity, prevention, innovation, and patient engagement. The event also provided valuable opportunities for dialogue with international leaders and institutions, including representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO), the American Cancer Society (ACS), and organisations from Africa, the Eastern Mediterranean region, and beyond.
She also had the honour of meeting the President of UICC, Dr. Ulrika Årehed Kågström, and the President-Elect, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, further strengthening NABD-BC2’s presence within the global cancer community.
During her visit to Melbourne, Mrs. Eseghir visited Monash University, where she explored advances in reducing health inequities, promoting people-centred care, and enhancing patient involvement in research and clinical practice.
A major milestone of this year’s Summit was the launch of the World Cancer Declaration, reaffirming a global commitment to collaboration, equity, and impact in cancer control.
NABD-BC2 Association extends its sincere gratitude to the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) for sponsoring this participation and for recognising the importance of amplifying patient voices from our region on the global stage.
We look forward to continued collaboration and collective action.
